Local volunteers come together in big way for Rise Against Hunger event

Feb 18, 2018 | 5:00 AM

The annual initiative that sees local volunteers package thousands of meals for emergency food crisis relief has filled all 880 volunteer spots.

The Rotary Club of Grande Prairie is sponsoring Rise Against Hunger and chairperson Cheryl Montgomery says the response has been overwhelming.

“We launched it on a Friday and we had it more than half full by the following Friday. I think it is really indicative of how supportive this community is when it comes to helping out internationally and it really is a community building type of event.  It is very positive.”

The event is set for February 24.
